My son has benefited from Kempo in so many ways. Primarily in his coordination, self confidence and overall fitness and strength. When he began Kempo just under two years ago, my son was pretty clumsy in his movements in P.E. at school and during play at home. Although he didn’t really injure himself, it just seemed he couldn’t get his body to do what his mind wanted. Through his training in Karate, I have seen him grow from an awkward child, into a person who has very good control over his body, and one who shines on the playground and in sports. He is able to do things much better than before he began Karate.
Being involved in Kempo has given him an opportunity to gain greater self esteem. Through demonstrating techniques during class and competing with others at tournaments, My son knows he has the ability to do whatever he puts his mind to. He is recognized by his instructors continually and encouraging words and praise are sprinkled into training sessions like the perfect seasoning on a meal.
I have seen him change from a skinny kid to a very physically fit person. He has a better physique at eight years old than most children his age. He is also strong and can help us with tasks at home he was not able to do as easily before he began his Kempo journey. My son’s little brother is now a Pee Wee white belt and is having a blast doing Karate with his big brother. I can’t wait to see what it does for him.
I would highly recommend Kempo Karate to anyone and everyone. More importantly I would recommend the Nor’wood Branch. All of the instructors and students look out for one another and respect for all is obvious. We feel the folks at Nor’wood are an extension of our family and couldn’t be more satisfied to name them among the people helping to shape our children’s’ lives.

Skill Through Training
Training is principally an act of faith. The athlete must believe in its efficacy; he must believe that through training he will become fitter and stronger; that by constant repetition of the same movements he will become more skillful and his muscles more relaxed.

The Big Show 2011

Great job last night on The Big Show. All the schools did a fantastic job on their demonstrations. The evening went really well thank you for your help.
I just want to say that at our school we saw a tremendous amount of growth in our students. Some grew in their martial arts abilities. Some grew in their willingness to get out there in front of a crowd and participate. Everybody learned something. Students can learn from coming to class. But watching everyone ramp it up in preparation for this show was a great thing to behold.
Thank you to all that participated. Thank you to the Odells for the pictures and videos that were captured of the evening.
